Adverse Event Reporting In Routine Surveys Conducted In The Pharmaceutical Arena

Casro Issues Statement On Adverse Event Reporting In Routine Surveys Conducted In The Pharmaceutical Arena

Major Survey Research Trade Organization Cautions on Dangers in Using Routine Pharmaceutical Surveys as a Component of the “Pharmacovigilence” Process

Port Jefferson, NY (PRWEB) June 29, 2006 -- The Board of Directors of CASRO voted last week on issuing a statement to caution the pharmaceutical industry on requiring routine pharmaceutical surveys to report Adverse Events in the course of the research. The Board outlined in the statement the reasons for taking this position.

The Board statement follows:
CASRO believes that market research organizations should not be required to assume responsibility for formal reporting of adverse events (AE) uncovered in the course of routine pharmaceutical market research because it is not a methodologically sound approach to post-market surveillance and it exposes research organizations to unacceptable legal and ethical risk.

However, in the event that a research organization chooses to accept the responsibility of reporting AE, we urge that, at a minimum, the organization obtain contractual terms that:

(1) fully specify all the conditions and procedures associated with those adverse reporting requirements, including stipulations associated with collection of both qualitative and quantitative data, as well as procedures to be taken in the event that respondents refuse permission;

(2) endorse a policy by which respondents are informed at the start of the research that any mention of product dissatisfaction will require that the organization submit an AE report on their behalf if one has not already been filed;

(3) fully waive, and indemnify the market research organization against, any and all legal liabilities arising as a result of its AE reporting responsibilities.

While CASRO believes these terms extend some measure of legal protection to member organizations and help to safeguard the ethical integrity of the research process, they do not overcome CASRO's overriding concerns about the impracticality and inadvisability of requiring routine market research studies to serve as a direct instrument of the “pharmacovigilence” process.

CASRO believes that we, as an industry, are better-equipped to advance pharmacovigilence in a different way. Recognizing that the industry’s extensive contact with patients and physicians puts us in a unique position to encourage and facilitate AE reporting by those who experience them and the medical professionals who observe them, CASRO recommends that research organizations play an indirect role, by reminding respondents of the importance of AE reporting and providing them with information to help them do so.

Personal Injury Victims Clueless Concerning Claims

Many Personal Injury Victims Don’t Know What Their Claims are Worth or Even Whether They Have Valid Claims — Free Resources at Total Injury Can Help

Many personal injury victims are confused by conflicting information in the media, stories from friends and family, and the differences in personal injury law from state to state. Total Injury at www.totalinjury.com provides resources to help personal injury victims understand their rights, find important information like statutes of limitations, and arrange free consultations with personal injury lawyers in their area. Now, Total Injury is also collecting verdict and settlement information from around the country so that personal injury victims can gain insight into how cases similar to their own are being decided.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2006 -- Most personal injury victims are facing once-in-a-lifetime circumstances, and so aren’t familiar with personal injury law, the insurance claims process, case valuation, statutes of limitations, and all of the other important but technical information that factors into the viability and valuation of a personal injury case.

The issues become even more complicated because laws and procedures vary from state to state, so even accurate information a personal injury victim has heard from a relative or seen on the news may be misleading. Total Injury strives to provide accurate, easy-to-understand information to help personal injury victims understand their rights and options, and to connect them with local
personal injury attorneys who provide free consultations.

On the Total Injury website, personal injury victims can learn about the typical steps in a personal injury case. At the same time, most will be relieved to discover that the vast majority of personal injury claims settle before trial.

Finally, since most personal injury victims are concerned about the value of their claims, Total Injury provides a resource explaining the factors that play into the valuation of a personal injury claim, and a round-up of personal injury verdicts from news sources across the country.

These brief descriptions of injuries, settlements and verdicts from numerous states illustrate the range of cases personal injury lawyers handle. Recent verdicts truly cover the spectrum, from a $25,000 award to a mail carrier bitten by a dog to a $26.8 million dollar verdict in favor of a woman injured in a collision with a police car. Personal injury victims can read about cases similar to their own: car accidents, slip and fall injuries, bicycle injuries, workplace mishaps, and more.

Site Thrusts Celebrities Into DUI Spotlight

Total DUI Adds Celebrity DUI Spotlight

Total DUI, at www.totaldui.com, has long been a source of valuable consumer information about DUI charges, arrest procedures, breathalyzer test variations and possible challenges, hidden consequences of DUI convictions like limitations on future employment and increased automobile insurance rates, and a place consumers can go to find a DUI lawyer near them. Now, Total DUI is adding information of a different kind—updated bulletins on celebrity DUI arrests, convictions, and acquittals.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2006 -- Total DUI’s new Celebrity DUI Spotlight gathers news about the actors, musicians, sports figures and politicians who find themselves facing DUI charges. Contrary to popular opinion, these high-profile drunk drivers often do not receive special treatment, and are subject the same fines, community service requirements, probation, and even jail time that the average person would face in similar circumstances.

Most of the content on Total DUI is intended to assist those facing DUI charges, by educating DUI defendants about their rights, providing information about possible weaknesses and flaws in DUI cases, and making it easy for someone facing a DUI charge to find a local
DUI lawyer who will offer a free consultation. The Celebrity DUI Spotlight, however, is of broader interest.

Lost fans looking for an update on Michelle Rodriguez and the outcome of her 60-day jail sentence for driving under the influence will find it on Total DUI’s Celebrity DUI Spotlight. Sports fans will find information about the DUI arrests of Cleveland Browns running back Reuben Droughns, Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, Portland Pirates head coach and former NHL forward Kevin Dineen, NFL Hall of Famer Carl Eller, and more.

Other recent entries and updates include former SNL actor Tracy Morgan, Dukes of Hazard star Tom Wopat, U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy, and country singer John Michael Montgomery. The Celebrity DUI Spotlight is updated regularly with the latest news in celebrity DUI arrests, convictions and acquittals.

Total DUI continues to provide extensive consumer-oriented DUI resources, including explanations of the possible penalties involved in a DUI case, detailed information about the proper administration of breathalyzer and field sobriety tests and the possible flaws in their execution, and access to free consultations with local DUI lawyers.

Government Will Reverse Mesothelioma Ruling

Government Will Reverse Mesothelioma Ruling

The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer has announced changes to compensation laws which will mean victims of asbestos-related cancer will receive full compensation.

(PRWEB) June 27, 2006 -- The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer has announced changes to compensation laws which will mean victims of asbestos-related cancer will receive full compensation. The announcement follows the House of Lords ruling in Barker v Corus in May this year that prevented thousands of mesothelioma victims from receiving a full payout. The decision reduced the amount of compensation to which they were entitled when employers and their insurers were unavailable to be sued, as well as making the whole process of claiming compensation longer and more costly. In response The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer and John Hutton, the Work and Pensions Secretary, will amend the Compensation Bill - currently going through Parliament - to reverse the ruling. The amendment will mean that negligent employers will be jointly and severally liable and that claimants will be able to recover full compensation from any one employer.

Peter Williams, a partner in the Asbestos Claims Department at Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP, said:
"I am delighted the government has promptly indicated their intention to restore the rights of those suffering from
mesothelioma to claim full compensation from any one employer.

"Whilst we do need to look at the detail and timing of the legislation we hope to be able to tell our clients and their families we can deal with their cases speedily and that they no longer face the prospect of losing large amounts of compensation through no fault of their own."

About 1,900 people die in the UK each year from mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the lungs or abdomen, which is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP is one of the country’s leading asbestos disease claims firms. Over twenty-five years Rodney Nelson-Jones and his team have recovered nearly £100M in over 1,750 successful cases.

Hot New Practice Area for Lawyers In Hurricane Law

Hurricane Law Emerging as Hot New Practice Area for Lawyers

Leading the nascent field of hurricane law is Attorney Samuel W. Bearman, of Pensacola, Florida. He recently gave a presentation on hurricane law to the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (AFTL) at their annual convention.

Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) June 27, 2006 -- Attorney Samuel W. Bearman, based in Pensacola, Florida, spoke to the members of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (AFTL) on June 8, 2006 at their annual convention in Hollywood, Florida.

Screwdriver Screwup Results in 5.6 Million Dollar Lawsuit

Implanted Screwdriver Results in 5.6 Million Dollar Lawsuit: Why Hospitals are Turning to Airline Pilots to Prevent Poor OR Teamwork

A Hawaiian hospital could have saved a patient’s life, $5.6 million and a shockwave of negative publicity if they had invested in training their surgical teams to use the same assertive communication skills used by flight crews in commercial aviation.

Memphis, TN (PRWEB) June 26, 2006 -- The Institute of Medicine estimates that the total cost of medical errors in U.S. hospitals is an astonishing $17 billion a year. One horrific case of a medical error involved a patient who had the steel shaft of a screwdriver surgically implanted into his spine.

Despite the concerns of the nurses on his surgical team, the surgeon used the screwdriver in place of two titanium rods that turned up missing from the OR when the surgeon needed them. Not wanting to wait, he instead decided to use the screwdriver shaft.

Not long after the surgery, the shaft shattered. More surgeries were needed to correct the complications and ultimately, the patient died. The family was awarded a $5.6 million wrongful death by jury verdict. While the surgeon bears most of the responsibility for the decision, the rest of the surgical team had a part to play in the outcome as well.

To avoid these sorts of decision-making errors and empower nurses on the surgical team to effectively intervene when needed, many hospitals are implementing the aviation-based safety protocols and assertive communication techniques used by commercial flight crews.

One innovative aviation-based safety system, developed by the airline pilots, NASA astronauts, and active physicians of LifeWings Partners LLC, has been implemented in over 40 healthcare facilities nationwide. LifeWings president, Steve Harden, a former Navy pilot and Top Gun instructor says, “The average wrong surgery malpractice award is around $350,000. If just one of these surgical errors is prevented, the return on investment for implementing this safety system is eye-opening. With this system, one of our clients prevented at least six of these claims.”

A major component of the LifeWings’ program focuses on the development of assertive communication behavior among team members. “We’re trying to equip medical teams with the necessary communication behaviors that will help detect and prevent errors before they become harmful to the patient, physician or hospital,” says Harden. “I definitely think the surgical team would never have allowed a screwdriver to be used had the safety system been in place.”

Additionally, LifeWings teaches hospitals how to use standardized checklists. Hospitals learn to create checklists for every procedure to ensure that all surgical equipment is in place. “Had the LifeWings’ system been in place in that hospital, the procedure never would have started until the two missing titanium rods had been found and put in place in the OR,” Harden adds.

Ultimately, LifeWings provides a systematic change to the safety culture in healthcare. The result of that culture change is safer and better quality of care for patients, and thus fewer malpractice claims.

About LifeWings Partners LLC
LifeWings Partners LLC was founded by a former U.S. Navy Top Gun instructor and commercial airline pilot and two physicians who are former NASA astronauts. The firm specializes in applying aviation-based teamwork training and safety tools to help healthcare facilities save patients’ lives and reduce costs. LifeWings has helped over 40 facilities nationwide provide better care to their patients. Measurable results are found in all LifeWings initiatives, including one hospital that experienced a 43% improvement in their observed to expected mortality figures. The firm also conducts Leadership Development workshops for healthcare executive teams.

New Wave of Social Networks Sparked By MySpace Legal Woes

MySpace Legal Woes Spark New Wave of Social Networks

Recent news on MySpace highlights the need for safe social networks. ConnectFactor (http://www.connectfactor.com) begins to answer that need.

Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) June 24, 2006 -- Recent news on MySpace highlights the need for safe social networks. ConnectFactor (http://www.connectfactor.com) begins to answer that need.

ConnectFactor is a social network site with three goals:
1) Allow like-minded people to connect in meaningful ways via the internet. ConnectFactor offers messageboards, blogs, instant messaging, private messaging, "hot topic" lists, news , blogs, the "Daily Factor" (a special feature that connects people faster than email, and with a wider reach than message forums), photos, and more. Plus, ConnectFactor displays connected people in a unique, "family tree" manner.

2) Connect people on an "invitation only" basis. ConnectFactor uses a proprietary system of rating your relationships, too. Each user will display an average rating along with the number of people that rate them.

3) Provide a family-friendly environment for people to interact within the framework of knowing folks insofar as they were invited to join the network.

"There is no way to completely guarantee that people you connect with will have only positive intentions. Yet, we believe that ConnectFactor offers people the best available alternative," says Don Harrold, co-founder, ConnectFactor.com

Mr. Harrold continues, "The rise of networks-as-sexual-playgrounds gave me the idea for ConnectFactor. I was tired of seeing social networks devolve into titillating conversations about tattoos and whether people are 'hot' or not. Adults needed a place to connect. And the recent news about major social networks confirms to me that ConnectFactor is the right network service at the right time."

"We don't have any place at ConnectFactor for you to unload your entire 'hotmail', 'outlook', or 'juno' address book. That's not what ConnectFactor is about. The sort of random connections built through those tactics serve only one purpose: to increase hits for the parent site. We want ConnectFactor to be a place where people know their connections and trust the connections made in their network," concludes Mr. Harrold.

ConnectFactor is currently in "beta test" mode. ConnectFactor is free and open to US citizens (beta mode only) who want to join a family-friendly, invitation-only network of like-minded people. Interested parties should visit http://www.connectfactor.com for more information.

Conducting International Business with Online Legal Information

Modern Technology Makes Conducting International Business Easy with Online Legal Information

A new website, Worlds Law Online, is revolutionizing international business by using a team of attorneys across the globe to provide cost-effective legal information online using videoconferencing, email and telephone.

(PRWEB) June 22, 2006 -- A new website (www.WorldsLawOnline.com) is revolutionizing international business by using a team of attorneys across the globe to provide cost-effective legal information online using videoconferencing and email. If the matter is too complex for online, a local firm in Worlds Law network assumes the case to provide more personal service.

Bret Bocook founded the Worlds Law Online network when he realized that despite pervasive globalization, it was still very difficult and expensive to conduct international business and to get access to an attorney quickly and efficiently.

“Through our on-line services and via our network of strategic legal alliances, Worlds Law serves the needs of individuals, governments, companies, and non-profit organizations in all parts of the world. WorldsLawOnline.com has been created to take advantage of recent technology advancements in video conferencing and other on-line services to serve clients needs at a fraction of the cost of traditional law firms. Personal video conferences, on-line document preparation and email have created the opportunity for legal consumers to save vast amounts of money and time, and still get exceptional legal services given in a personal fashion at a location that is convenient to them” explains Bret.

Worlds Law Online has been designed to handle a wide array of legal services, according to Bret. “For individuals or firms that need a specific question answered, a document prepared, or require a virtual in-house counsel, Worlds Law Online is a convenient and cost saving alternative to hiring a full time attorney or retaining a local law firm”

For more complex legal services that require in-person contact, the Worlds Law Online network has associates around the world. “We’re adding countries every day and by the end of the summer we will have associates in nearly every region on Earth” added Bocook.

While there is a growing business in US citizens wanting to do business abroad, the largest market is still foreigners who want a business presence in the United States, particularly those from Eastern Europe and Asia. “Many firms market and sell products to US customers, but if you’re online and it comes time to make a purchase and you notice the business and the payment is going to Russia, many people are unwilling to complete the transaction” Bocook explains. www.WorldsLawOnline.com helps those foreign companies understand US law and what needs to happen in order to form an official US based LLC or corporation.”

Not limited to just business formation, World’s Law Online provides legal information in the following areas:, international family law, international construction law, international business law, international finance law, international employment law, international trust and estate law, international real estate law, international health care law, and international     product liability law.

Worlds Law Online is a fast growing, pre-IPO company and is currently seeking investors. More information can be found at http://www.worldslawonline.com/invest.php

Bocook brings impressive credentials to the business, which has helped him to assemble a highly skilled team. As a founder of a major real estate law firm, Bocook has recently been focused on using his background on a more philanthropic project, the Angels Camp homeless shelter in Washington, DC. “The Angels Camp is a state-of-the-art facility that could end homelessness in the US as we know it. Says Bocook. “It is a self sustaining shelter that generates its own income and doesn’t just provide temporary shelter, but trains and equips residents to be successful members of society.”

AngelsCamp, is a state-of-the-art homeless shelter in Washington DC (see

High Court Hits Hooters Hopes Hard

Hooters Hopes for a Favorable Appeal Shot Down by Florida Lawyer Defending Rival Chain Ker’s Winghouse

Florida Litigation Attorney Don Conwell Successfully Defends Hooters Rival Ker’s Winghouse in Lawsuit Appeal filed by the Hooters Restaurant Chain.

Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) June 20, 2006 -- Ker’s Winghouse, a fast growing restaurant chain founded by former NFL Dallas Cowboys football star, Crawford Ker, defeated Hooters’ trade dress infringement lawsuit appeal last week, winning more than one million dollars in counterclaim damages against the prominent restaurant chain (In the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit D.C Docket Number: 03-00116-CV-ORL-22-JGG).

Hooters’ appeal repeated allegations made by Hooters in its failed lawsuit against Ker’s Winghouse in the United States District Court that Ker’s Winghouse—whose female wait staff also wear short shorts and tank tops —unfairly copied proprietary elements from the “Hooters Girl” and from Hooters restaurant décor.

The decision by United States Circuit Court Judge Rosemary Barkett rejected Hooters’ appeal, stating “Hooters’ trade dress infringement and dilution claims fail as a matter of law.”

Ker’s Winghouse was represented in both the trial and appellate courts by Florida litigation lawyer Don Conwell of Conwell, Sukhia and Kirkpatrick, which partnered with the Tampa based law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker to successfully defend Ker’s Winghouse.     The appellate court’s written opinion affirming the judgment for Ker’s Winghouse in the trial court came quickly, only seven days after Conwell argued the appeal before the appellate court panel of judges.

“This is a great day for our client, which can now continue its head to head competition with Hooters in the market place, free of the threat of oppressive litigation,” said attorney for Ker’s Winghouse, Don Conwell.

The litigation by Hooters against Ker’s Winghouse has been in the courts for several years. The case was tried in federal court in Orlando, Florida in November, 2004. In December, 2004, United States District Court Judge Anne Conway rejected Hooters’ trade dress infringement lawsuit claims and awarded $1.2 million in counterclaim damages to Ker’s Winghouse on a jury verdict in favor of Ker. Judge Conway adopted the arguments of Florida attorney Don Conwell that Hooters did not have protectable trade dress and that the trade dress of Ker’s Winghouse was not likely to confuse consumers.

After that verdict, Conwell stated, “The directed verdict and jury award completely vindicate Winghouse’s position that Hooters was using its wealth and muscle in the courts to try to unfairly exclude legitimate competition.”

The lawsuit has been considered a significant case in intellectual property litigation and has received national televised attention with coverage on MSNBC and numerous other local and national press outlets.

Consumers File Class Action for Alleged Unfair and Fraudulent Debt Collection Practices

California Consumers File Class Action Against Great Seneca Financial Corp. and Wolpoff & Abramson for Alleged Unfair and Fraudulent Debt Collection Practices

Two California consumers, Shane Satey and Kenneth Holtzclaw, have brought a class action against Great Seneca Financial Corp. and the debt collection law firm of Wolpoff & Abramson, alleging unfair and fraudulent debt collection and credit reporting practices and also that Great Seneca was collecting debts in California for months without being properly registered as a California corporation. Holtzclaw/Satey vs. Great Seneca Financial Corp., et al., Case No. 06 E 02709.

La Crescenta, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2006 -- Two California consumers, Shane Satey and Kenneth Holtzclaw, have brought a class action against Great Seneca Financial Corp. and the debt collection law firm of Wolpoff & Abramson, alleging unfair and fraudulent debt collection and credit reporting practices and also that Great Seneca was collecting debts in California for months without being properly registered as a California corporation. Holtzclaw/Satey vs. Great Seneca Financial Corp., et al., Case No. 06 E 02709.

For at least several months, nationwide debt collector Great Seneca Financial Corp. allegedly collected debts in California without being licensed to do business here. Hundreds, even thousands, of California consumers who paid money to Great Seneca to settle debts may be entitled to relief.

The story began with Shane Satey, a Southern California resident and a victim of identity theft. An identity thief stole Mr. Satey’s Chase credit card information and used it to charge up over $8,000 at a local retailer in Glendale. Although Mr. Satey sent a copy of the police report to Chase, Chase credit-reported the alleged debt and also sold it to debt collectors. In late 2005, debt collector Great Seneca purchased the debt and sued Mr. Satey, who hired the La Crescenta consumer protection firm Brennan, Wiener & Associates to obtain justice for the identity theft. On the very day when Brennan, Wiener & Associates contacted Great Seneca’s attorneys, Wolpoff & Abramson, Great Seneca mysteriously dismissed the case without comment.

A few months later, Great Seneca sued Kenneth Holtzclaw on an alleged debt which was many years older than the four-year limitations period for collecting debts in California. Seeking information about his rights, Mr. Holtzclaw coincidentally contacted Brennan, Wiener & Associates. Brennan, Wiener & Associates learned that Great Seneca was not licensed or registered as a California corporation, so Brennan, Wiener & Associates filed an answer and cross-complaint against Great Seneca and Wolpoff & Abramson. Suddenly, Great Seneca became properly registered as a California corporation on April 10, 2006, although it had been collecting debts in California for several months before then.

Mr. Holtzclaw and Mr. Satey have filed a class action in Los Angeles Superior Court against Great Seneca and Wolpoff & Abramson for alleged unfair and fraudulent debt collection practices. Holtzclaw/Satey vs. Great Seneca Financial Corp., et al., Case No. 06 E 02709.

“Their conduct was no accident,” commented lead class action counsel Robert F. Brennan of Brennan, Wiener & Assoc. “By not properly registering itself as a corporation, Great Seneca avoided paying taxes and other fees that it would have paid had it properly registered with the State of California. Even more important, Great Seneca was insulating itself from any kind of cross-complaint for unfair debt collection practices or unfair credit reporting because it had no agent for service of process in California.” Mr. Brennan also commented on the relationship with the Wolpoff & Abramson law firm. “As far as we can tell, Wolpoff & Abramson and Great Seneca are two peas in a pod. Our preliminary research suggests that Wolpoff & Abramson set up Great Seneca just to try to insulate itself from unfair debt collection lawsuits. For licensed attorneys to be collecting upon thousands of consumer debts through an unregistered corporation is positively inexcusable. One, two, maybe half a dozen instances is one thing, but here we have several months of such collection practices. I cannot believe Wolpoff & Abramson did not know that Great Seneca was not properly licensed and registered in California.”

The class action seeks damages for the class members as well as an injunction that Great Seneca repay the State of California any penalties, taxes or fees it should have paid when it first began collecting debts in California as an unlicensed corporation. Further, Mr. Brennan states that he will request that the court compel Wolpoff & Abramson to publicly disclose the full nature of its relationship with Great Seneca.

Brennan offers a few tips to consumers being pursued or harassed by debt collectors: “First, know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and its California counterpart, the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. These laws can be found on the internet. If you have any doubts whatsoever about the company trying to collect from you, contact the California Secretary of State and check into the company’s status. The California Secretary of State also sometimes has other information about debt collectors, as does the Federal Trade Commission. You’d sometimes be surprised what you find out.” The Federal Trade Commission has a website at
www.ftc.gov, which includes information about specific debt collectors. The California Secretary of State website is located at www.ss.ca.gov.

Brennan’s website, www.socalcreditdamage.com, also gives consumers the tools for handing wrongful debt collection, identity theft and false credit reporting situations.

About Robert F. Brennan: Robert F. Brennan, Esq. and his firm, Brennan, Wiener & Associates, 3150 Montrose Ave., La Crescenta, Ca., handle unfair debt collection, identity theft and wrongful credit report damage cases for residents of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Ventura Counties. Brennan, Wiener & Associates have a track record of successfully cleaning up credit reports and also of obtaining compensation for their clients. Mr. Brennan is well known for taking this fairly technical area of the law and breaking it down into its simplicity so that anyone can themselves, without the assistance of an attorney, clean up derogatory marks on their credit reports which do not belong there. When consumers find themselves unable to clean up their credit reports on their own, that’s where Brennan, Wiener & Associates steps in, to ensure that the wrongful derogatory marks get cleaned up and to ensure that the consumers so affected receive adequate compensation.

Houston’s Standout Drug Crime Defense Lawyer Wade Prasifka Launches New Website

One of Houston’s few lawyers keenly focused on defending you in drug offense situations is now making it even easier to get the help you need. Wade Prasifka is bringing his law office onto the Internet with www.houstondrugcrimelawyer.com where you can research his professional background, see the top five ways he can help you, and get the assistance you need to successfully defend your case.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 19, 2006 -- Texas criminal defense lawyer Wade Prasifka is dedicated to drug crime defense for Houstonians. To that end, he has launched a new website that introduces his services to the entire Houston area. Houstonians now have access to a lawyer whose passion, experience, and personal principles have inspired him to focus on defending citizens as they face any variety of drug offense charges.

A graduate of Southern Methodist University and University Texas School of Law, Prasifka is well versed in 4th amendment law, and he knows your rights. Wade will work fervently to review your case and determine whether or not police officials have illegally obtained evidence against you. He will then ardently attempt to suppress that evidence in court to maintain your personal rights.

The new website, www.houstondrugcrimelaywer.com is an innovative means of getting his services to you, the hard-working citizen, who could face challenging drug charges with unfair consequences. Now you can hop online to find a friend and expert lawyer who is willing to fight for your case. With the universality of the Internet, it is also easier than ever to refer friends in need to the services of this successful lawyer and advocate.

Prasifka’s ultimate goal is to get the best result in your drug case. Even if the evidence falls against your favor, he can advise you on ways to successfully plead out the charges and return to the normal life you deserve. However, he will never pressure you to plead guilty or not guilty; he will present you with all of your options and answer every question to help you make your own decisions. You have the right to take control of your situation, with Wade Prasifka by your side.

Whether you got court or not, after a drug crime charge, Prasifka will help you keep your driver’s license, keeping you mobile and able to get to work, allowing your life to remain as normal as possible. He will ask the right questions to determine any loophole that can get your evidence thrown out, charges reduced, or even dismissed.

“I personally believe that many non-violent drug cases are essentially victimless crimes, only hurting the unfortunate soul charged with possession. I treat your drug association like an addiction or sickness, not a crime that must be punished. As long as drugs are illegal, there should be someone looking out for the average, harmless citizen,” says Wade Prasifka. Visit the all-new www.houstondrugcrimelawyer.com and let Wade Prasifka help you. You may contact him at his offices located at 111 W. 15th Street, Houston, TX, 77008, or call at 832-618-1800.

Many Lawyers Suggest Asset Investigation Before A Lawsuit

Asset Investigators Have Ways of Finding Money that is Owed to You

Don’t be a victim -- you can get the money owed to you. Asset Investigators can help.

(PRWEB) June 12, 2006 -- Billions of dollars in uncollectible judgments from court cases show the real truth: if someone doesn’t have collectible assets, a costly court case can elicit nothing -- except a hefty legal bill. This is why many lawyers suggest asset investigation before time and money is wasted on a lawsuit.

There are many instances where an asset investigation may be useful. Creditor may want to run an asset check on debtors who owe them money. Those who are going through a divorce often have spouses who claim that they have no assets and so should not have to pay child support or alimony. Employers who have noticed unusual patterns in their account have found that an employee has been embezzling money.

Are the individuals in these cases stuck with accepting the situation at face value -- even if it means losing money? Of course not. Today, asset investigators can help uncover assets and money that others claim are not there. If individuals are owed money or suspect they are being defrauded, asset investigators can do a number of things to help them recover their money:

1) They can run economic crime investigations, investigations of corruption, investigations of money laundering, and other types of financial investigations using surveillance equipment as well as forensic computer investigation techniques that can recover lost or erased computer data.

2) They can trace ownership of assets, uncover camouflaged assets and trace property.

3) They can identify, find, and evaluate the value of assets owned or managed by a business or by an individual.

4) They can use information brokers and corporate insiders to uncover attempts to hide assets.

5) They can use online and electronic resources as well as surveillance equipment to uncover money fraud. By using tax liens, real estate records, change of address data, state motor vehicle data, and other types of online tools, investigators can often trace where assets have gone.

Signs an Asset Investigation might be needed.

1) Someone has a history of bad credit, lying, criminal activity, tax evasion, fraud, and padded résumés. Few people simply start hiding money. Many businesses, employees, and creditors who are dishonest with you have also tried to defraud others of money owed.

2) A sizable difference between lifestyle and asset claims. Ex-spouses often claim that they have no money to pay child support or alimony but have the money to drive at fancy car or make large home purchases.

3) A changing story. Those who try to claim that they have no assets when they actually do have money will often slip up and make mistakes about how much money they actually have. The creditor who at one moment claims they have only $100 but upon further pressure admits that they have $300 may well be lying about assets as well. Those who really do have f
